Malolos, Bulacan- “This is a big catch but still we’re not successful in our operation” Bro. Martin Francisco, Sagip Sierra Madre Head said last Thursday July 25, 2013 at Bulacan environment and Natural Resources Office (BENRO) in Malolos, Bulacan

Almost 502 pieces of squared logs are confiscated after the Provincial Multi-Sectoral Anti-illegal Logging Task Force (PAILTF) conducted a two-day operation at the mountainous part of the City of San Jose Del Monte, Norzagaray from July 16 to 17.

Loggers who are proven guilty in this crime have a punishment of not less than 6 years and 1 day.

The operation was conceptualized by the Capitol of Gov. Wilhelmino Sy-Alvarado through BENRO head Eugenio Payungayong and composed of BENRO, DENR, Forest Ranger Ernesto Quirmit, NPC-AWAT with Mr. Mendell Garcia, AFP, PNP and Sagip Sierra Madre Environmental Society with Bro. Martin Francisco.

According to Mr. Francisco, they don’t have enough budgets for the operation but still they are doing their best to protect and save the forest-cover of our watershed and mountains.

“Ang mga nakumpiska na mga iligal na troso ay gagamitin upang gawing silya para sa mga paaralan, nang sa gayon ay makinabang pa rin ang mga Bulakenyo,” Gov. Alvarado Commanded.

We must improve our strategies and plans. We also need the help and concerns of other members not only in Bulacan but also in the neighboring provinces of Rizal and Nueva Ecija, Francisco said.
